The course is geared towards visual artists and is divided into six modules:
Essential materials
Contests
Scholarships
Artist programs
Residences
Resources for artists
In the first module we reviewed the essential materials that every artist should have ready when presenting themselves: statement, documentation of work, BIO and CV .
Next, we analyze the requirements for each type of opportunity , and I offer various tools and tips for developing them. We also discuss best practices, share examples, and review actual guidelines and regulations to understand how to identify institutional objectives and leverage them when designing projects.
We conclude with a module dedicated to the main resources for artists : websites and international platforms where you can find open calls for artists from all over the world.
The proposal is to convey to them the key characteristics of each type of call for proposals, the materials they usually require, and how to generate them to achieve effective presentations .
GOALS
Learn the necessary tools to create an artist portfolio , how to make a statement, an artist bio, and what to include in a body of work.
Understand the differences between a competition, a grant, an artist program, and a residency ; and learn the key steps to apply for each one.
To find out what the main events are in the local and international scene.
Knowing how to search for and find available opportunities on websites that advertise competitions, scholarships, artist programs, and residencies.
Being able to identify the important points in the regulations/terms and conditions and reflect them in the applications.

ABOUT GONZALO MACIEL

Gonzalo Maciel (1990, Buenos Aires) is a light artist, curator, cultural manager, and teacher. He worked for seven years at the National Arts Fund (FNA), where he held various roles that gave him a broad understanding and experience of the country's art scene and dynamics: he curated eight heritage exhibitions, created and coordinated the FNA Visual Arts Competition, produced numerous exhibitions for FNA competitions, served as a jury assistant for the Venice Biennale, worked in the FNA's communications department, and managed numerous art workshops and clinics throughout the country with prominent Argentine artists.
She holds a degree in Art History from UMSA (2013). Her primary training as an artist stems from the artist workshops and programs she has participated in: Di Tella (2024), EPAC at ArtexArte (2014), PAC with Gachi Prieto (2013), and Casa Escuela de Arte (2007). She has also participated in workshops with Eduardo Stupía, Rafael Cippolini, Rodrigo Alonso, Dolores Casares, Leonel Luna, and Gabriel Valansi, among others.
He was a recipient of the Creation Grant (2021) and was selected for the Sacred Art Biennial (2023), Bahía Blanca Biennial (2019 and 2017), and Young Art Biennial (2017). He has also participated in numerous competitions, including the National Salon (2023), the Fortabat Prize (2023), the UADE Prize (2023), the Itaú Prize (2022, 2021, and 2019), and the Feliz Amador Salon (2021, 2020, and 2018), among others.
Her solo exhibitions typically feature intimate installations where color invades the space, creating an immersive and hypnotic effect. Notable examples include: 'Skies of Mars' curated by Eduardo Stupia, Ungallery, CABA (2022); and 'Horizon Project' curated by Laeticia Mello, Ziliensky Gallery, BCN (2019). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions in Buenos Aires, New York, and Barcelona.
