Azcuy Prize Project
Presentation
The proposed works suggest dynamic sculptures that, while static objects placed in specific locations, are intended to disconnect the viewer from their daily routine, offering a multiplicity of perspectives. The sculptures designed for the building's transit areas are works whose perception will vary depending on the viewer's vantage point and the time of day.
The central idea in all the works is to dematerialize boundaries through reflections and projections of light. Three groups of light works are presented.
The first set is designed for the entrance and lobby, and consists of a collection of sculptures called Sky Rocks. These are mirrored glass sculptures where one side radiates light in the form of a backlight, as if reflecting a horizon within them.
The second object, Proyecto Montaña (Mountain Project), is designed to be placed outdoors. It would be a large, mirrored, geometric structure: by day, the piece would expand the space by reflecting the greenery of the garden, and by night, illuminated by different lights, the work would come to life, reflecting all its harmony within the garden's ambiance.
The third set would be a circular diptych, The Lovers. Two backlights specially designed for the sum. The light boxes share a lighting sequence that simultaneously displays a set of complementary colors.

Rocks of Sky
The Sky Rocks are geometric structures covered in mirrors, where several of their faces act as backlights, projecting a sequence of colors reminiscent of sunset. It's as if the sky itself is being reflected through them.
During the day, the sculptures act as objects that expand the space, reflecting their surroundings. When the light inside the building diminishes, the luminous sequence of the rocks will bathe their surroundings in new colors.
Some of the faces of the Rocks will be backlit, meaning they will be made of semi-transparent acrylic and inside they will have RGB LEDs with a light sequence that will refer to the horizon.
The pieces plus the platforms measure around 150/180 cm. The idea is that they are not overly intrusive sculptures, but rather serve as a stimulus to energize the common spaces.
Mountain Project
This piece is designed to be placed in outdoor gardens. During the day, this artwork will mirror the outdoor environment through its reflections, and as the light fades in the afternoon, its mirrored walls will be illuminated by various lights placed throughout the garden, generating countless reflections and different chromatic flashes that create the garden's nighttime ambiance.
All sides of this piece will be made of mirrors. Recommended dimensions are: 250x250x30 cm. It is proposed that the base of the piece be made of travertine marble and that it emerge from the water in the corridor.
The Lovers
A luminous union between two flashes of complementary light.
This work is presented as a diptych. It consists of two light boxes that share a light sequence, simultaneously displaying a set of complementary colors. These sets show complementary colors in light (red/cyan; blue/yellow; green/magenta) and in pigment (red/green; blue/orange; yellow/violet). When one piece projects a color, the other illuminates with its complementary color.
The light sequence lasts approximately one minute and automatically loops when switched on. The unit is activated like any other light, with a 220V ON/OFF switch. It can even be integrated into the SUM lighting system.
The ditic is composed of semi-transparent acrylics, a wooden frame, RGB LEDs, an electronic board to control the light changes, and a power supply.
Each piece has a diameter of 100 cm. The total size of the diptych would be 220 x 100 cm. The dimensions of the pieces may vary according to the needs of the Architects and Curators of DONNA Acqua.
Clarifications
*All the works were designed exclusively for DONNA Acqua, that is why only renderings of them are presented.
*The presentation proposes general measurements of the pieces; these may be modified according to the convenience of the Architects and Curators of the DONNA Acqua building.
*All proposals may be modified according to the convenience and suggestion of the DONNA Acqua Architects and Curators team.
Artist commitments if selected
*The artist agrees to work in conjunction with the team of Architects and Curators of DONNA Acqua to determine the quantity, measurements and final spaces of each proposal.
*The artist undertakes to create a scale model of each group of works so that their sculptural and luminous power can be faithfully appreciated.
*The artist agrees to provide renderings of each group of works located in the places previously agreed upon with DONNA Acqua. The Platz Arq team of architects (https://www.instagram.com/platzarq/) will assist in this process.
