Tribute to the Circle

In this series, I draw inspiration from the studies of Josef Albers and his iconic "Homage to the Square" series to create works that also explore the interaction of color within a regular format. In my light investigations, I took the circle as the main module, superimposing it with other circles and framing it within diverse geometric shapes. I used the same palette of light colors to demonstrate, as Albers did, how color is a completely relative phenomenon and how the perception of forms and color constantly changes according to their juxtaposition and how they relate to one another. As in his paintings, in the light boxes, the same tone not only appears different when placed in different contexts, but the chromatic interplay within the circular geometries also creates an optical illusion of spatiality, expanding the perceived plane of the presented geometries. While this investigation of the circle is an abstract and purely geometric work, the various interactions between the circles and their light colors allow for countless interpretations.
