How an idea is born
Open talk in the context of the solo exhibition: “All the colors of the Horizon”
DUNE PARK, CABA
2023

During the talk, we discussed the extensive process involved in the conception and realization of an art project. I shared an overview of my creative process, highlighting how my ideas evolve and transform until they reach their final form. I emphasized not only the poetic, conceptual, and theoretical aspects that underpin my work, but also the artist's efforts to secure the necessary funding to carry out diverse projects. Furthermore, I illustrated how a single idea can give rise to multiple projects, each suited to different calls for proposals and artistic contexts.

On art and technology
National Museum of Fine Arts, CABA
2022

During the talk, the various interrelationships between technological advancements and art were examined. I addressed two fundamental aspects: firstly, how progress in new technologies and science is integrated into my current artistic practice, and secondly, how this convergence has been a constant throughout the history of art. To illustrate this point, I mentioned historical examples such as the impact of the invention of the paint tube in the Impressionist era, which allowed artists to paint outdoors, and M.E. Chevreul's research on simultaneous contrast, which influenced the techniques of artists of that time. Currently, my work draws on advances in LED technology and knowledge of light physics, visual physiology, and color theory, which I use to create installations and light works.

Gonzalo Maciel: Works and Creative Processes
Regina Art Space - Visual Arts Technician Program
San Isidro, BA
2022

The talk fulfilled two fundamental objectives: to present my work as a light artist and to highlight the inspiring and formative elements throughout my artistic career. Addressing visual arts students, my intention was to emphasize that artistic creation is a constructive process nourished by diverse sources. These range from the inspiration derived from other artists to the theoretical learning gained through research on the topics covered, and the perseverance necessary to seek funding and participate in grant competitions. In this way, the idea that art is the result of a constant process of exploration, learning, and professional dedication was reinforced.
